Nachhaltige Wertschöpfungsnetzwerke (Walther, V2/Ü2, WS, environmental competency)

Social and environmental consequences of corporate management are much discussed issues today’s society. In consequence, companies are facing complex problems regarding the design and management of supplier relations as well as challenges with respect to economic, environmental, and societal implications of products, supply chains, and services. This course provides the methodological knowledge required in order to solve these quantitative and multi-criteria decision problems and also raises the awareness of students for sustainable behavior in the corporate context.

Content

This course presents basic and advanced methods for modeling and evaluation of sustainable supply chains. Concepts for measurement of ecological and social performance of products, companies and supply chains are presented. Methods for life cycle assessment and multi-criteria decision support are discussed. The concepts are then applied to case studies.

Educational objectives

After successful participation, the students are able to

  • understand concepts for modeling and evaluation of the ecological and social performance of companies, products and supply chains,
  • apply techniques of life cycle assessment and multi-criteria decision analysis,
  • question critically, analyze and discuss controversially activities in terms of sustainability,
  • apply the acquired methods to practical problems and present the results.
